Ultrasonic Cleaning Basket

Getting the best results from ultrasonic cleaning starts with how you load your cleaner.

Objects must be suspended in the tank to prevent damage to the cleaner and the objects. They must be held securely to minimize movement and arranged so that the cleaning solution covers the load completely and the ultrasonic waves can reach all surfaces evenly.

UPC’s stainless steel ultrasonic cleaning baskets are precision-engineered to support optimal loading, enhancing the performance of your ultrasonic cleaner while protecting your equipment and the items being cleaned.

Key Benefits of Ultrasonic Cleaning Baskets

Ultrasonic cleaning baskets ensure that the objects to be cleaned are positioned in the tank in the way that delivers the best cleaning results.

Loads shouldn’t rest on the bottom of the tank as this prevents even distribution of ultrasonic waves through the cleaning solution. The constant vibrations can also damage the tank, the transducers, and the objects themselves. Baskets are designed to hold the load an inch above the bottom.

Baskets enable loads to be arranged so that all surfaces are accessible, even with multiple objects and parts with intricate configurations. All surfaces that need to be cleaned must be in contact with the cleaning solution.

Stainless steel mesh baskets are specifically designed to secure and position components correctly, minimizing movement and maximizing the efficiency of the ultrasonic cleaning action.

Why Choose a UPC Stainless Steel Basket?

Our industrial-grade cleaning baskets are designed to meet the rigorous demands of industrial and professional cleaning operations. Our baskets have handles for easy movement in and out of the tank.

We design our baskets using Stainless Steel 304, a stainless steel alloy that has several key properties well-suited to ultrasonic cleaning:

  • Its corrosion resistance makes it ideal for use with the range of aqueous, acidic, and alkaline cleaning solutions used in ultrasonic cleaners.
  • Its strength and durability ensure that our baskets deliver long-lasting performance even under the continual stress of ultrasonic vibrations.
  • It is non-reactive, hygienic, and easy to clean, which is essential in industries like pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and food processing.

Why should the basket not touch the bottom of the tank?

No object – including the basket – should rest on the bottom of the tank as this contact impedes the ultrasonic energy from the transducers from reaching the load effectively. In addition, prolonged contact between an object and the tank can result in damage to the object, transducers, or the tank from the ultrasonic vibrations.

Our baskets are designed with handles that rest on the tank sides and hold the load at the right distance from the surfaces of the tank.

Can I use a plastic basket instead of a stainless steel basket?

It is possible to use baskets made from non-conductive materials, such as plastic. However, these materials dampen or block ultrasonic waves, reducing the efficiency of the cavitation process. This can lead to uneven or insufficient cleaning, especially for complex items or hard to remove contaminants. In addition, some cleaning solutions used can react with plastic, causing deterioration or contamination.

Plastic baskets can be used for very delicate parts that could be damaged by contact with stainless steel. It is also possible to suspend a part in the tank using string or wire.

Why is mesh size important?

The optimummesh size of a cleaning basket depends on the objects being cleaned and the application. The mesh must be small enough to preventparts from falling through but large enough to allow the cleaning solution and ultrasonic waves to pass through freely, ensuring all surfaces are evenly cleaned. Too small a mesh can also impede drainage and airflow during rinsing and drying cycles, leading to delays and the risk of residues accumulating on cleaned items.

What size basket should I use for maximum performance?

The basket should be appropriately sized for the cleaning tank, making use of the space available in the tank. However, it’s important to avoid overloading the basket and exceeding the weight capacity of the cleaner. It’s better to split large loads for maximum cleaning effectiveness.

The basket itself is part of the load to be cleaned so using a large and heavy basket can reduce the cleaning effectiveness or require more power or a longer cleaning cycle.
