Preparing Your  Musical Ultrasonic Cleaning System

1. Fill Tank with cleaning sloution:  Ensure that the liquid level is at an appropriate height as to not to damage the heaters. A good rule of thumb is to fill the tank to ¾ full, Minimum level is 8 inches.

Try our recommended musical instrument cleaning solution or see our detergent guide for more information.

2. Add ultrasonic cleaning solution and set the water temperature:

- Prior to lacquering:   Use Sonic Power Degreaser, 12 ounces per gallon of water at 130° F

-To remove calcium build up:   Use Ultra-power 132-B, 1 to 1½ ounces per gallon of water at  <110° F

3. De-Gas: With the tank full, run the system for 5 minutes to degas.

4. Felt and leather pads should be removed from the instrument prior to cleaning. Synthetic pads can be left on the instrument.

5. The instrument should be disassembled and the parts placed into the stainless steel mesh basket.

6. Horn Flush holster – Place the horn flush tube in the corner where the horn flush holster is located. With the horn flush tube being rigid, the horn flush holster was added to ease the convenience of putting the horn flush tube somewhere when it is not in use.

Ultrasonic Cleaning Guide

1. Power Intensity – This knob controls the power output of the generator. Fully counter-clockwise represents 0%, while fully clockwise represents 100%. It is recommended to start at 50% power for most firearm cleaning jobs. If cleaning soft metals or materials, such as brass musical instruments, a lower power intensity may be recommended.

2. Sweep Rate – As the exact resonant frequency required for optimal cleaning cannot be known, the generator rapidly sweeps across a range of frequencies to ensure the frequency is obtained. This knob controls the sweep rate of the generator. The ideal sweet rate depends on the cleaning job, but 300 Hz, or fully counter-clockwise, is typically recommended as a starting point.

3. Ultrasonically clean for approximately 3-5 minutes.

4. Remove the instrument and rinse with water for approximately 30 seconds to flush residual cleaning solution.

5. Dry with parts dryer delivering high pressure heated air.
